Well, here we are already in the last few weeks of the year, and it certainly has gone by in a flash!!
Over the last few weeks we’ve been busy as always.
At the beginning of June our attention was of course focused on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The children made red white and blue bunting to hang in the hall, crowns to wear and flags to wave. We looked at lots of pictures of the queen and her family, some of when she was very young and some of her recently.
On the last day before the half term break we had a party for all the children. They had fun and games and party food and they all looked lovely in their party outfits. Thanks to Mrs Bonnert for baking a very impressive union jack cake, mmmm, delicious!
Later in the term we had visits from some tiny Cockerpoo puppies and also from Bob the hamster who entertained us all by rolling around in his hamster ball.
What we’re doing soon at Burton on the Wolds Playgroup
This half term we will be turning our attention to father’s day activities and the Olympic games, making our own Olympic torches and looking at what some of the other countries involved are like. Our older children will be going up to ‘big school’ for some visits on their own to spend some time in school ready for when they start after the summer.
New Playgroup website
Burton on the Wolds Playgroup now has a website! Please visit www.BurtonOnTheWoldsPlaygroup.co.uk , take a look and tell your friends too. Thanks to one of our dads – David Pritchard of D10 Solutions Ltd – for helping us with setting up the website.
Goodbye Mrs Taylor
We are winding down now as the end of the year approaches, looking forward to our end of term picnic in the park, sponsored trike ride and leavers presentation.
This year as well as saying goodbye to our big children who are going up to school, sadly we also have to say goodbye to Mrs Taylor who has been with us at playgroup for over 30 years and is now going to be retiring and taking a well earned rest at home with her husband Jeff.
Mrs Taylor has seen many of our children’s parents come through playgroup as children themselves. She is well loved by everyone and is going to be missed, but we’re sure we will still be seeing a lot of Mrs Taylor as she pops in to see us from time to time!
We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and carers who come to our fundraising meetings in the pub when they can.
It is easy to forget that our playgroup is a charity and is run by a voluntary committee, without whom playgroup simply would not be able to continue as we need the extra income to cover our running costs.
Thank you too to all of the parents who support playgroup by coming along to fundraising events or helping their children to collect lots of sponsor money for events.
Please continue to support us and to keep playgroup going for all of our children to enjoy. If you are interested in becoming involved with our committee please have a chat with us at playgroup.
Well it just remains for us to say that we wish our children who are leaving to go to school in September the very best of luck and we know they will have a lovely time at Burton school.
From everyone at playgroup we hope you all have a lovely restful summer break and that the weather is bright and sunny.
