Playgroup News May 2012 – New Outdoor Play Area

Children playing with new equipmentOver the last few weeks our children have been enjoying our newly revamped outdoor area.

We have new space themed chalk boards, a giant xylophone, and two big threading frames with brightly coloured ribbons attached.

We would like to say a huge thank you to one of our dads, Nathan Proud of Brooklea nursery in Rothley, who kindly donated to us a large raised bed, in which we have put all the plants which the children have grown from seeds.

The children can help to look after them and watch them grow much more easily now.

We would also like to thank another dad, Will Staples, for donating a tractor tyre for our outdoor area, which has proved very popular with the children who love to climb on it or sit on it and have a natter!

We are very lucky in Burton on the Wolds to have so many supportive families who do that extra bit to get involved with playgroup and make it such a welcoming and fun place for the children to play and learn in.

Our tadpoles are growing and we are now watching very carefully to see some back legs appearing!! The children have enjoyed learning about lots of other creepy crawlies too and we have done some lovely maths activities through looking at different minibeasts.

Over the coming weeks we have a very busy and exciting time as will be doing activities themed around the Queen’s jubilee and the Olympics.

We have collected lots of Tesco vouchers and would like to thank everyone who handed them in, we will let you know soon how your vouchers have been used to help our playgroup.
