Family Involvement with the Playgroup

Family Involvement With Playgroup

There are several ways in which you can be involved with the playgroup in Burton.

Each session we have one or two parents to ‘stay and play’ with us for the morning, which enables them to see what we do and is a great opportunity for us to chat with them about their child’s progress.

Your Child’s Playgroup Learning Journey

All our children will have a Learning Journey which is like a ‘scrap book’ of their time at Playgroup containing observations, samples of their work, and photos of them learning through play.

When they move up to school their Learning Journey will go with them to their new class for a little while after which parents are given their learning journey to keep.

We encourage children to be familiar with the contents of their Learning Journey and to take pride in putting things in it themselves.

They have access to it whenever they wish, as do parents and carers. Family input is an important part of the Learning Journey and we love to get lots of different things from parents to put in to reflect home life and show us what you’ve been up to!

Fundraising for Playgroup

As a registered charity we are run by a committee of parents and carers who meet informally, usually once a term, in the local pub to organise fundraising events.

Some of our events include children’s Easter and Halloween parties, sponsored trike rides, picnics in the park, and for the adults cheese and wine social evenings, christmas dinner dances, race nights, and fashion shows, to name just a few.

This is a very informal, friendly group and we always welcome new faces and fresh ideas!
